ABOUT ME

Greetings, I'm Christianah, the founder and creative director of Damgidi Bridals Ltd., a bespoke couture house registered in the United Kingdom. Though “Christina” may be a simpler alternative, I embrace both names with equal warmth.

As a fashion designer and entrepreneur, my expertise lies in the intricate craft of haute couture design, where each creation is meticulously crafted from inception to completion. While I do not maintain an expansive collection, I have designed and delivered hundreds of exceptional garments, focusing on bespoke bridal and eveningwear. I aim to showcase the fine artistry and unique design philosophy of my creations in this platform.

My academic background is rooted in History and International Relations, but it was during my undergraduate years that I discovered my true passion for fashion. With a strong resolve, I pursued further studies and hands-on training to master garment construction and pattern making. I honed my craft by enrolling in practical training sessions and specialised skill-acquisition centres to perfect my proficiency with the sewing machine and freehand draping techniques.

In 2010, I founded a private atelier offering bespoke services for discerning clientele. I specialise in creating customized designs based on client specifications, a practice that has evolved continuously, maintaining a reputation for exquisite, one-of-a-kind pieces. As my expertise grew, I explored more advanced design techniques, particularly in freehand cutting and drapping, which led me to further refine my practice.

Recognising the need for advanced technical knowledge, I enrolled in a short course in Draping on the Stand and Advanced Draping at the renowned London College of Fashion in 2013. This experience opened my eyes to the art of bespoke dressmaking, where I gained invaluable exposure to industry-leading professionals, further shaping my understanding of couture tailoring, corsetry, and the importance of fit and fabric manipulation.

In 2022, I expanded my design skill set by pursuing a Master's degree in Fashion Design at the University of Sunderland. Here, I focus on digital fashion design, utilising industry-standard software such as CLO 3D and Adobe Illustrator to conceptualise and visualise modern, tech-driven designs that push the boundaries of fashion.

Currently based in the United Kingdom with my family, I continue to grow Damgidi Bridals Ltd. with a focus on crafting timeless and innovative couture that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities.
